Wear OS + Windows / Beta 0.2.0

Your Codex chats.
On your wrist.

Choose a project, open its chats and follow saved agent progress. Get optional task-completion alerts over a direct Wi-Fi connection to your PC.

No app account. No ads. No telemetry. No hosted relay.

Before you download

You need a Wear OS watch running Android 11 or newer, a Windows x64 PC with a compatible Codex desktop installation, and both devices on the same trusted Wi-Fi network. Keep the PC awake. Codex access and any subscription or usage charges are separate. The reviewer demo below works without Codex access.

The watch app is available to invited internal testers; it has not launched publicly. The free download below contains the PC companion only. You need separate access to the watch beta to use it.

One setup wizard. Everything included. No ZIP extraction or terminal commands.

Reviewer demo — no Codex account needed

Install the Windows setup above, then open Wrist Agent reviewer demo from the Start menu. No Codex installation, login, subscription or trial is required. Use a Windows x64 PC and a Wear OS watch on the same trusted private Wi-Fi network; keep the PC awake.

Following the original Google reviewer instructions? The 0.2.1 portable ZIP remains available: extract it and run Start reviewer demo.cmd directly from its folder.

  1. The clearly labelled demo page opens at http://127.0.0.1:8778/. On the watch enter the displayed PC address with port :8777. Compare both security and pairing codes; approve on the PC only when they match.
  2. Open Demo Website or Demo Notes, then any [Demo] chat. Browse its invented messages and saved progress.
  3. In demo PC setup enable Allow simulated watch replies in demo chats. Send any test text from a watch chat. A labelled response appears and completes after about eight seconds. No AI is called, commands run or project files changed.
  4. For alerts, grant notifications and choose Start monitoring in watch Settings. Close the watch app, then click Send test alert on the demo PC page. Open the watch alert. A simulated reply also uses the usual completion-alert path. Stop monitoring from the ongoing watch notification or Settings.

The demo never reads real Codex history or opens the desktop helper. It keeps its synthetic history, pairing and certificate separately in %LOCALAPPDATA%\WatchAgentReviewerDemo. Use Stop Wrist Agent reviewer demo in the Start menu to stop it. If Windows Firewall blocks a trusted Private network connection, the optional scripts/allow-private-wifi.ps1 -ReviewerDemo in the installation folder allows port 8777 only from the local subnet on the Private profile; it requires administrator access. No automatic firewall change is made.

To switch an already paired watch between demo and normal companions, use Forget PC and clear cache in watch Settings, then pair again. Demo results are synthetic; normal Codex delivery requires the access and compatibility listed below. Existing normal companion state is preserved.

Pair your watch

  1. Open Wrist-Agent-PC-0.2.2-Setup.exe and click Install. On the final page leave Open Wrist Agent setup checked, or open Wrist Agent from the Start menu later. Everything is bundled; no developer tools or administrator access are required for installation. Stop any portable companion before switching copies.
  2. The PC setup page opens locally. On the watch, enter the PC address it displays, with port :8775.
  3. Compare the PC security code and six-digit pairing code on both screens. Approve the watch on the PC only when they match.
  4. Select a project, then a chat. Saved history refreshes about every five seconds; it can lag behind the agent's newest output.

Installation does not add firewall rules or login startup. If Windows Firewall blocks access on a trusted Private network, the installation folder includes an optional administrator script that allows port 8775 only from the local subnet on the Private profile. Do not forward this port to the internet.

Replies and completion alerts

Replies are off by default. Enable them in PC setup when you want to send to an existing chat. Keep Codex open, Windows unlocked and its composer empty. Check an uncertain delivery on the PC before trying again.

For alerts while the watch app is closed, grant notifications in watch Settings and choose Start monitoring. Its ongoing notification has a Stop action. Sleep, Wi-Fi loss, force-stop and system restrictions can delay or prevent alerts.

Compatibility

This beta requires Codex's modern state_5.sqlite saved-history schema. The tested history-creation versions are 0.153.1, 0.153.4, 0.154.0, 0.154.0-alpha.6.2, 0.155.0-alpha.2.6, 0.155.0-alpha.9, 0.155.0-alpha.9.2, 0.158.0-alpha.2.1, 0.159.0, 0.159.0-alpha.12.1 and 0.159.2. A chat's creation version can differ from the installed desktop version. Unknown versions appear as unavailable.

Sending also depends on compatible English desktop UI labels, one Codex window and an unlocked PC. Codex updates can require a companion update. The watch flow has been checked on a Samsung SM-L355F; broader device and extended sleep testing are still pending.

Updates, removal and support

Running Setup again updates a recognised copy while preserving pairing. Remove Wrist Agent PC companion through Windows Settings → Apps, or Uninstall Wrist Agent in the Start menu. The uninstaller removes its own program files and shortcuts but preserves the separate state directories. For full erasure, stop all companion copies and remove %LOCALAPPDATA%\WatchAgentPrivate and, if used, %LOCALAPPDATA%\WatchAgentReviewerDemo. Original Codex histories are unaffected. Use Forget PC and clear cache on the watch to remove its saved connection and chats.

For setup help, email privacy@defamation.dev with your watch model, Windows/Codex version and a short description. Do not send private chat histories, pairing tokens or login credentials. See the privacy notice and beta terms.
